The current investigations going on in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has unmasked so many acts of embezzlement and fraud.
Upon the investigation, IMC has brought to public notice that:
- While the commission paid N3.7B for the supply of plastic chairs, they traced the address where the chairs were delivered to be a warehouse in Asaba, Delta state, which happens to belong to the same company that got the contract.

- Every year NDDC pays N300M as rent for its office building in Port Harcourt, a building that investigation has revealed was given to the commission for free by the Rivers State Government.
Unfortunately, while so many languish in deprivation and poverty, public funds are frequently mismanaged and siphoned into private accounts.
Amidst the forensic audit of the commission, the Acting Director of Finance and Accounts, Ibanga Bassey Etang, suddenly died on the 28th of May 2020. Cause of death is yet to be revealed after it was earlier suspected to be Covid19 virus but test results from the deceased finance director returned negative. There are rumors of suspected food poisoning. Operations have been shut down as ordered by management and staffs where advised to self isolate for a 14 days period as a result of the initial Covid19 virus fear. A step which a group called Act for positive initiative (API) believes to be a strategy to cover up wrong doings and to frustrate ongoing probe.

The question remains, should the death of the director be linked to the investigation?
Was he murdered by the defaulter(s)?
If ever found, will the perpetrators of these indecent acts be properly dealt with or these findings will be swept under the carpet as usual?
We await further discoveries.
